Shell & Chevron to kick off Malampaya Phase 3

Shell is operating the Malampaya gas field with 45% share, at the same level as Chevron while the local Philippines National Oil Company, PNOC, owns the remaining 10%.

The third phase of Malampaya will suppose the construction of an offshore compression platform.

This platform should be built in the Philippines and should be the first one of that size and complexity in this country. It should include a steel jacket and be linked to the existing Malampaya structure.

Regarding the compression, Fluor is mobilizing  its local offices in Manilla and Cebu to demonstrate to the Philippines authorities the capabilities of local resources in designing the topsides  and substructure in.

The completion is due in mid 2014.
