Statoil awards a series of projects

Well supported by its financial performances and the sustainable price of the oil, Statoil has announced on the last weeks a series of projects.

  1. Snorre A Platform revamping
Statoil awarded Aker Solutions the $179 million contract for the revamping and up grading of the drilling equipment and system on the Sorre A platform to extend its lifetime up to 2040. The purpose is to improve the health, Security and Environment (HSE) factors and to maintain its capacity and availability.
According to the terms of the contract, Aker Solutions will provide engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning assistance to Statoil.
  2. Asgard subsea contract
Statoil selected Technip for a $200 million marine contract for a seabed gas compression facility to support the Asgards field development. The scope includes the installation of control and power umbilicals, structures, diverless tie-ins and connection to existing subsea infrastructure. The work should be completed in 2014.
  3. Two new “cat D” submersible rigs
After Statoil had ordered to Songa Rig two cat D submersible rigs in July 2011, Statoil added two more through an eight years contract. Then Donga Rig selected Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. for the construction of two rigs at $570 million per unit, and Aker Solutions for the drilling equipment. Those contracts may request for the winterization to meet with the Barents Sea harsh environment.

All these investments confirm Statoil’s advanced expertise in offshore and subsea technologies, especially in harsh and arctic environment.
